Seattle Holiday Events for 2018
Small Business Saturday
When: Saturday, Nov 24
Where: West Seattle Junction
This national event turns very local with a reminder to support small and local stores. You can rally behind West Seattle’s independent retailers—ahem that technically includes us, you know—with your holiday spending dollars.
West Seattle Yuletide: The Lights! The Sounds! The Colors!
When: Weekends early, then continuously mid-month through New Year’s Day
Where: 4120 38th SW, West Seattle
Sounds a bit trippy, doesn’t it? But this event is straight-up Christmas cheer, including a music-synced display of holiday lights courtesy of the good folks behind West Seattle Yuletide. They plan to begin shows about 5:30 pm running through about 9 pm. Shows will run longer if an audience has assembled, and it’s likely they’ll go even longer on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
A Festival of Lessons & Carols
When: Sunday, Dec 16 at 7 pm; Friday, Dec 21 at 7:30 pm
Cost: $5 – $35
Where: 4139 42nd Ave SW, Seattle, WA 98116
Don’t worry, you don’t have to be a practicing Catholic—or have any religious affiliation at all!—to enjoy the beautiful and ancient sounds of carols to enjoy the story of the Nativity as told through readings, choral arrangements, and audience-participation carols.
Native Gift Fair and Art Market
When: November 23 – 25
Where: Duwamish Longhouse and Cultural Center
This beloved annual event features more native gifts, art, and handiwork than ever! This year you can give the gift of traditional native crafts and explore a vital chapter in West Seattle’s history at the same time….
Christmas Tree Lighting
When: Saturday, December 1st
Where: West Seattle Junction
Soon our beloved Christmas tree will be lit and the countdown to St. Nick will officially be on! This year’s tree-lighting ceremony is confirmed for Saturday, December 1st, but check the West Seattle Junction site for updates about specific time and location.
When: Nov. 23 – Dec. 30, 2018
Cost: Tickets start at $19.99; children 3 and under free
Where: Safeco Field, Seattle
It’s not free, and it’s not low-key. But Enchant Christmas is most definitely an immersive Seattle holiday event experience, and it could be just the right ticket for those who truly yearn for Christmas. The highlight is The Great Search, billed as the “world’s largest Christmas light maze” and sprawls over nearly the entire baseball field. Your ticket also gets you access to a skating rink, a holiday market, and visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus as well as special concerts, shows, and events throughout the season.
