If it’s not already obvious, we love our neighborhood. A lot! West Seattle is very much a part of the larger bustle and flow of Seattle proper, but the slight sense of isolation provided by the Duwamish Waterway to the east and Puget Sound to the north and west, give West Seattle a flavor all its own.

And when it comes to local pride, we’re not shy about sharing some of the many other activities near us — like our West Seattle restaurants — that make this such a great neighborhood. After all, it wouldn’t be right to share our favorite cannabis options and not share our favorite food options as well.

So here’s a hot-list of some of our faves — and, of course, all of the restaurants in this diverse group of eateries create culinary delights that pair magnificently with your favorite strain!

Buddha Ruksa

3520 SW Genesee St
Seattle, WA 98126
(206) 937-7676

This lovely and well-appointed Thai restaurant serves many favorites from this fascinating and inventive cuisine, but for many repeat visitors—or perhaps addicts—return for crispy garlic chicken, a deadly combination of heat and crunch.

Cactus Restaurant

2820 Alki Ave SW
Seattle, WA 98116
(206) 933-6000

Outdoor seating and a knockout view of the Olympics are a bonus at this modern cantina. You’ll find updated and inventive takes on Mexican and Southwestern classics like their Navajo fry bread or their epic tortilla soup with ancho chilis and fire-roasted tomatoes.

Duke’s Chowder House on Alki

2516 Alki Ave SW
Seattle, WA 98116
(206) 937-6100

An Alki Beach institution, Duke’s is a classic and well-loved haven for fans of Northwest and Alaskan seafood. Think crab-stuffed halibut, Copper River salmon and all manner of shellfish.

Marination Ma Kai

1660 Harbor Ave SW
Seattle, WA 98127
(206) 328-8226

The exotic, but not over-the-top exotic, Marination Ma Kai has created a delightfully delicious— yet casual— Korean-Hawaiian fusion that is an umami-rich exploration of the power of soy sauce, kim chee, and slow-roasted kalua pork.

Mashiko

4725 California Avenue Southwest
Seattle, WA 98116
(206) 935-4339

Sustainable seafood is sweeping the West Coast. And we couldn’t be happier to have options so close to us such as Mashiko, a delightful, yet unpretentious sushi bar. All fish is sourced from healthy stocks, using responsible fishing and farming practices.

Raccolto

4147 California Ave SW
Seattle, WA 98116
(206) 397-3775

A newish venture from local notable Brian Clevenger, this West Seattle restaurant specializes in gorgeous Italian-inspired housemade pastas alongside dressed-up classics like beef tartare and a sprightly dungeness crab salad.

Zippy’s Giant Burgers

9614 14th Ave SW
Seattle, WA 98106
(206) 763-1347

No surprises at this fun, casual and well-loved joint: Just greasy, messy, old-style burgers ground daily and made to order. Vegetarians take note, there’s a respectable black-bean option as well.

At the end of the day, West Seattle may not have the frenetic energy of Seattle proper, but so far as we’re concerned, that’s a great thing. We love the charms our quieter neighborhood to the west offers: Plentiful nature, unspoiled views of towering mountains and the majesty of Puget Sound, and some truly stupendous dining options when it comes time to refuel and recharge.
